Grass-clover response to cattle slurry N-rates: Yield, clover proportion, protein concentration and estimated N2-fixation

چکیده
Optimal nitrogen (N) fertilization for grass-clover leys is important, since the N application affects yields and clover crude protein (CP) contents of forage. Modeling optimal to maximize economic output minimize environmental consequences depends on responses, e.g., proportion, dry matter (DM) CP yield. Thus, such parameters need be quantified in field trials. Based a three-year trial (2017–2019; Foulumgaard Experimental Farm, Denmark) with four cuts an organically managed ley, effect increasing from cattle slurry (0, 50, 100, 200 300 kg total ha-1) DM yield, yield concentration as well proportion was examined. Results were analyzed separately sward ages (1–4 years). Dry ranged 5.8 11.8 Mg ha-1 treatments showed highest all ages; no significant additional benefit relative ha-1. The generally decreased (36–65 % 0 8–35 ha-1). herbage either unaffected or application. fourth-year swards comparable first third-year ages. In unfertilized swards, linear relationship found between cut given year fourth previous (r2 = 0.82 within range autumn proportions 33–74 %), indicating possibility using last predicting next year’s fertilizer requirements. comprehensive data results may form basis future modeling organic leys.

Estimating legume N2 fixation in grass-clover mixtures of a grazed organic cropping system using two 15N methods
The input of Nitrogen (N) through symbiotic N2 fixation (SNF) in grass-clover mixtures was determined in an organic cropping system for grazing during 3 years. The mixture of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) and white clover (Trifolium repens L.) was established by undersowing in spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) and maintained subsequently for two production years. Dinitrogen fixation w...
متن کاملEvidence that P deficiency induces N feedback regulation of symbiotic N2 fixation in white clover (Trifolium repens L.).
Trifolium repens L. was grown to test the following hypotheses: when P is deficient (i) N2 fixation decreases as a result of the plant's adaptation to the low N demand, regulated by an N feedback mechanism, and (ii) the decrease in the photosynthetic capacity of the leaves does not limit N2 fixation. Severe P deficiency prevented nodulation or stopped nodule growth when the P deficiency occurre...
متن کاملPhysiological and Morphological Responses of White Clover (Trifolium repens) and Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) Plants to Salinity Stress
Trifolium spp. are native plants in Iran exhibiting good ground cover po-tential. Salinity is a major environmental stress and today, 20% of the world cultivated areas and nearly half of all irrigated lands are affected by salinity. The main aim of this research was to study morphological and physiological adaptations of these native species under different salinity levels for urban landscape u...
